Clutterville
Country School prepared children attending grades one through
eight for high school in town. The school was typical of those
located every 2 miles throughout the country side. The
school was built around 1907 and was located in Madison Township,
Butler County. As Friesian People began settling in the area they
became aware of the importance of education and were very
supportive of the county schools. The school was part of the
Clutterville Community with a church, cemetery, and grocery store
all nearby.
The Ackley Heritage Center
purchased the building in 1997 and moved it to the Settlement of
the Prairie as one part of the prairie site. It has been
furnished as a typical early county school with student and
teacher's desks. A round oak wood stove is also part of the
school display.
